Knockdown Rebuild in a Conservation Zone

This project began as a knockdown rebuild on a steep sloping block within the Epping-Eastwood Conservation Zone. Building in a heritage area required careful planning to balance the traditional streetscape with a modern, functional design for today’s lifestyle.

Architectural Design with Heritage Character

Externally, the home incorporates gabled rooflines that reflect the historical character of the conservation area. Internally, the design embraces contemporary living, with light-filled spaces and open layouts tailored to modern family life.

A Home Built Across Three Levels

This luxury three-storey residence has been designed with both entertaining and private living in mind:

• The lower ground level features an expansive open-plan kitchen with a butler’s pantry, flowing into dining and media areas for seamless entertaining.
• The middle level provides a family retreat with four bedrooms, including a master suite with a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite.
• The top floor is crowned by a private rumpus room, overlooking a striking triple-height void that creates a dramatic architectural statement.

High raked ceilings with raked gable windows, bringing natural light throughout.

• Double-glazed European uPVC windows for thermal efficiency and year-round comfort.
• American oak staircases feature batten screening connecting all levels.
• Large stacker doors open onto a spacious outdoor entertaining deck, with serene views of the reserve at the rear.
